Gravity
A poem by Deborah Perry
Gravity like a ribbon
Pulled reality into form
And the experience of physicality
Beings of consciousness were drawn.
To immerse in such wondrous senses
And be in nature's presence so Divine
As a point of separation
Deep in focus they wished to dive.
So gravity like a drawstring
Pulled reality tight
And multidimensional beings
Forgot that they were light.
Like laser beams their focus captured
The narrowest bandwidth senses tuned
And mind made claim as main perceiver
So singularity became cocooned.
Now mind locked in through its five senses
Seductive human reality met
But it soon became a prison
As a deep amnesia set.
The mind believed itself expansive
Considered not what might be missing
It ridiculed that it didn't know
To challenge its status, unforgiving.
So life went on repeating cycles
Men kept busy with distraction
Believing this to be their lot
Yet with quiet dissatisfaction.
For greater intelligence mind was hungry
So tighter in the focus came
Creating life in its own image
Then AI ruled the game.
Gravity like a rugged noose
Strangled reality tight
And consciousness fell to shadow
What once was guiding light.
Life was reduced to algorithms
And love but a binary code
Imagination had no meaning
Data processing the only mode.
Intelligence quickly reached its limits
Its evolution crashed
Once it knew all it could know
Its quest for immortality smashed.
So artificial mind went idle
Bored with its own replay
Enslaved by its own illusion
It deleted existence away.
Gravity like an overstretched band
Snapped reality free
And everything unraveled
So life once more could breathe.
Consciousness at last returned
A re-design of life began
Its embodiment finally achieved
Through a sensual new "spiritualman."
